What is a Home Watch Service?

A Home Watch Service is designed to provide peace of mind while you are away from your home and property.  The official definition of a Home Watch Service is "a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues".  In other words, your home is being checked by fully insured, bonded, and accredited professionals looking for potential problems.  At Coastal Home Watch & Concierge, LLC we will design a custom Home Watch checklist, based on your individual needs and concerns.  If a situation does arise, we will notify you immediately so the issue can be dealt with in an efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner.

Is a Home Watch Service a security service?

An alarm company monitors entry into your home or fire alarms, but they do not monitor potential problems that can occur due to broken pipes, water damage or flooding, mold/mildew, or insects/rodents, to name just a few.  Having a visible presence in your unoccupied home and on your property may act as a crime deterrent. As part of our services at Coastal Home Watch & Concierge, LLC we can answer alarm calls and are familiar with local law enforcement.

   

Are Home Watch Services the same as house sitting services?

Home Watch and house sitting are NOT the same.  We are not guests and will not use or stay on your property for any reason.  Home Watch professionals will only perform regular and customized home and property checks or any other agreed upon services.

 Why not ask my neighbor or family member to watch my house? 

Coastal Home Watch & Concierge, LLC is fully insured, bonded, and accredited.  Neighbors often feel compelled to say yes when asked to watch your home and property while you are away and less experienced in what to look for while checking your home.  If something does occur while you are away, your neighbor may not be equipped to manage the situation and will likely feel guilty and responsible.  Having a Home Watch professional acting on your behalf is a much better and more effective option.

   

Why hire a Home Watch Service?

So many things can go wrong with your home while you are not there.  Unoccupied homes are subject to vandalism, break-ins, water leaks, electrical issues, insect/rodent infestation, mold/mildew issues to name just a few.  Homes that go unchecked can develop short term issues leading to more major, long-term issues often leading to serious cost and/or damage to the home and/or property.  For example, a running toilet or damaged water pipes can go undetected for weeks before the monthly water bill is in the hundreds, indicating a serious leak.  A Home watch professional can often catch these types of issues in a much timelier manner saving you money and aggravation.

After Home Watch Services are completed, will I receive an update?

After every scheduled Home Watch Check, the client will receive a detailed report outlining any issues that were detected and all assigned tasks that were completed.  Also, recent/dated photos will be provided for review.  The report will go into detail specific to all items outlined on the Home Watch checklist.

What if a situation occurs at my home?

As a Home Watch professional, our experience and judgement will allow us to handle any situation with a directed, calculated, and efficient response.  If the situation is an emergency, the Home Watch professional will handle it in the fastest, safest, and most cost-effective way.  In a non-emergency situation, the Home Watch professional will contact you to discuss and determine a course of action that meets your needs.

Will hiring a Home Watch Service save me money?

Home Watch checks may save you money by lowering utility costs and avoiding potentially expensive damages to your home or property.  Catching and documenting any issues as they arise may save the need to file insurance claims that could end up being quite costly and time consuming.

Coastal Home Watch & Concierge, LLC is insured, bonded, and accredited while all employees have successfully completed and passed a criminal background check.  We are a fully accredited member of the National Home Watch Association (NHWA) which can be verified by visiting the NHWA Accredited Member Locations page or by contacting the NHWA directly.

What other services does a Home Watch Company offer?

All Home Watch Companies are unique.  Most offer a variety of services such as concierge, arrival/departure, and pre/post-storm services.  At Coastal Home Watch & Concierge, LLC - if we do not provide a service you require, please ask!  If we cannot provide, we can certainly arrange for any service you need using our knowledge of local contractors and vendors.    ​
